Charles Robert Rogers 74, of Jacksonville, Florida formerly of Welaka, Florida passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Bailey Family Center for Caring in St. Augustine, Florida. Charles was born on Wednesday, July 7, 1937 in Logansport, Indiana to the late Bernard and Mary Rogers. Mr. Rogers proudly served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force. Charles is also preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara R. Rogers, son Bernard Rogers, brother Donald Rogers, Charles T. Rogers and a sister, Kathy Geddis. Mr. Rogers was a member of the Moose Lodge #1641 in Crescent City, Florida and the Fraternal Order of Police in Kokomo, Indiana. Mr. Rogers is survived by his son, Charles Rogers, II and wife Lisa of Green Cove Springs, Florida; daughters: Christina Hansen and husband Richard of Jacksonville, Florida, Mary McIntire of Hesperia, California, Angel Elcock and husband Keith of Mishawaka, Indiana and Gina Martin of Kokomo, Indiana; sisters: Michelle Mehsling of Trinidad, Colorado, Kay Ruth Mitchell and Donna Lee Woodruff both of Logansport, Indiana and Sara Sanderson of Jacksonville, Florida; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; Many other family and friends who will miss him dearly. A visitation will be 2 PM, Monday, December, 12, 2011 followed by the Funeral Service beginning at 3 PM at Watts Funeral Home Chapel. Simplicity Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Inc., San Mateo, Florida.

Your dad an Barb were great frends of our family. Spent many days on the CB talking an fished together in the Kokomo Bass Buzzers he help start. Chuck was a mentor of mine for as long as I can remember. He taught me many things including my most favorite game in the world, chess. I understand the pain you’re feeling as I’ve been there myself. The pain will fade over time, but the memories last forever. With love from all of us in Indiana.
