  10. Mike Waters says:

The world and Oakwood specifically, just lost a great man. Jacque, Kim and Kelly, I hope you somehow know how much he meant to me. He taught me so much and literally saved my life so many times, I cannot count them.
When I heard of his passing, so many thoughts and memories crossed my mind. He loved Oakwood and the school was his life for so many years. I only wish that people could know the many generous acts that he provided for friends, students and faculty that he never wanted known to the public. Glenn had his faults, as we all do, but for me he was one of the finest men I have ever known.
While I was coaching at Oakwood, Glenn always had some “advise” for me. One of his favorites was, “you pass the ball way too much.” One time I replied to him, “we have averaged over 70 pts. a game and have won over 20 games that last three seasons” His comeback………. ” yeah, and think what you would have done if you listened to me!”
I will miss you, Glenn and everything about you.

  13. Connie Hoagland says:

To the Keever family… my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I’m sure you know what kind of man he was – but we were so lucky to have a Principal like Mr. Keever! Like Mr. Waters said he was such a friend to everyone at OHS from the students, to the staff, to the teachers and coaches. He wanted us all to do our best but enjoy the ride along the way. I will never forget when he called me into his office, during school, to inform me that I needed to smile more on the basketball court! “It’s okay to compete, but make sure you enjoy it too.” he said. I know you will miss him every day, but I hope pain turns to peace when you realize all the lives he has touched in such a positive way.

    God’s blessing to you all,
    Connie Hoagland

  24. Frank Nixon says:

    Dear Jackie,
It is with great sadness that I heard toady that Glenn has passed.I valued him as a person,as a mentor and as my friend. He was much wiser than any of the people knew in Oakwood. As a teacher, you are only as good as your principal. It was not a coincidence that I left the high school when he did.It was a mistake but thats another story.I will always remember his guiding me and helping me in dealling with kids.I remember him playing 3rd base to my shortstop on the K.C. team when I was really young.I remember us talking basketball everyday during my plan period and helping him with the girls team later on.There are many memories but suffice it to say that, though he may not have known it because men don’t get sentimental with each other,I admired him greatly for his “common sense”attitude toward problems and his door always open policy and his friendship to me.He got to see his 2 girls grow to be women and the start of both of their families and he lived his life own his own terms and there is much to be said for that.Though I was not in the circle of friends that he communicated with after he left,I thought of him often, always have spoke highly of him to others and the memories of our time together will last as long as I live.I should have told him sooner.MEN!!To Kim and Kelly,Glad to hear your doing well. Pass the memory of your dad to your kids and love them as he did you.It is a sad day.Frank Nixon

Our first coach stepped down after 4 games, and intead of cancelling the rest of our season, Coach Keever stepped in and lead us girls through the rest of the season.
