John J. Stachnick 89, of Pomona Park, Florida passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Shands at the University of Florida. John was born on Wednesday, May 17, 1922 in Bayshore, New York to the late John J. and Linda (Lynch) Stachnick. Mr. Stachnick faithfully served his country proudly during WWII, in the U.S. Navy. He was a Psychiatric Social Worker for the New York State Department of Health. He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, V.F.W. both in Crescent City, Florida, and the American Legion in Waddington, New York. He also enjoyed reading and fishing. Stachnick of Pomona Park, Florida; son, Timothy Stachnick and wife Kathy of Niskayuna, New York; daughter, Linda Stachnick of Averill Park, New York; step daughter, Toni Duffy and husband Michael of Palm Coast, Florida ; sister, Ann Ritz of East Greenbush, New York; niece, Linda Ritz; nephew, Marty Ritz; grandsons: Dan Stachnick and Ted Stachnick; Step grandsons: Brandon Duffy and Adam Duffy; Many other family and friends who will miss him dearly. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Elizabethtown, New York. Simplicity Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Inc. San Mateo, Florida.
