Lois Jordan Peterson 94, of Bostwick, Florida passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Madison County, Georgia and raised in Florida around the McRae area and attended school at Keystone Heights. She graduated from Keystone Heights class of 1934, where she was the only senior in her class. Then moved to Jacksonville to go to work, retired from Winn Dixie Stores, Inc. In 1981 then moved to St. Johns Harbor Retreat in Bostwick where she had owned a vacation retreat for a few years. Lois was confined to her home and bed for over six years with vertigo and polymyalgia rheumatic. Lois wished to thank her husband for taking such good care of her during this long illness. Mrs. Peterson enjoyed her flowers, yard work and sea shells. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Sam and Vera Jordan, brothers: John Jordan, Roy Jordan, and Clifford Jordan, sisters: Willie Mae Jordan, Alma Alford, and Lucille Foucart, grandson, Michael Thornton Saxon. Lois is survived by her caring and loving husband of 28 years, Robert Dwight Peterson of Bostwick, Florida; daughter, Betty Jean Saxon of Daytona Beach, Florida; brother, Rufus Jordan of Melrose, Florida; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; She will be cherished by countless others, family and friends, who love her dearly. Visitation will be 10 AM Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Watts Funeral Home Chapel in San Mateo, Florida, with the Celebration of Lois’ Life 11 AM, with Chaplin Tom Miller, officiating. Interment will be at the Eliam Cemetery in Melrose, Florida. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Lois’ name either to: Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, Florida 32177 or the Humane Society of Putnam County, P.O. Box 188, Hollister, Florida 32147-0188.

    Even though i only cared for Mrs. Peterson for a short while, im so sorry for the loss. i know that she was loved by everyone, I wish there was something i could do to help ease the pain of her passing. i wish all of you the best, and once again im sorry for your loss.

    For the short amount of time i was caring for this wonderful woman. I learned that she loved her garden. As well as her love for fishing. I appreciate the time that i did get to spend with this special woman. I know that she is finally at peace. I send a special prayer for all of the family. I hope you understand why god has called her home.
