Roxie Maxwell, 89 of Palatka, Florida passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2011 at Putnam Community Medical Center. Roxie was born on Saturday, May 20, 1922 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late Ira and Amanda Belle (Trosper) Evans. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Alvie W. Maxell, Sr.; daughter, Barbara Louth, son, Alvie W. Maxwell, Jr.; 9 siblings, Ode Redmond, Grace Shackleford, Beatrice Barnett, Menora Evans, Beulah Redmond, Howard Evans, Arthur Evans, Raymond Evans, and Rev. Levoy Evans. She volunteered her time as a Pink Lady at the hospital for several years and was an amazing cook and seamstress specializing in embroidery and crocheting. Her hobbies included fishing and cooking. Roxie was a member of the First Baptist Church of San Mateo where she taught Sunday School and Lady’s Bible Study. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Elmer Maxwell and his wife, Edna of Palatka, Florida; 7 grand children and 8 great-grandchildren. She will be cherished by countless others, family and friends, who loved her dearly. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday, June 6, 2011 at Watts Funeral Home Chapel in San Mateo, Florida. A Celebration of Roxie’s Life will be grave side at 1PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Memorial Park of Lima in Lima, Ohio with Rev. Terry Brock, Officiating. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Inc., San Mateo, Florida.
